Rose with the scientific name (Rosa) is a small shrub with a height of 60 cm to 1.5 meters. Rose is a plant that originates from the East, especially Iran, and came to Europe after the Crusades. There are different types of roses, the best of which are found in Iran.
This plant generally grows in limestone fields, on the edge of forests, along roads and hedges as a car, and of course it is planted in most gardens.
The rose symbolizes beauty and affection and is planted more for its beauty and fragrance than for its medicinal properties. Its young stems have many small thorns, but the older stems do not have thorns. Its leaves often have five toothed leaflets and are dark green. Its flowers are large and single, purple-red in color. Flowers open in late spring to mid summer.

This aromatic plant contains sugar, tannin, gallic acid, essential oil, pectin and coloring matter. Wild rose petals are known as one of the rich sources of vitamin C in the plant kingdom. In the past, a syrup was prepared from rose sepals, which was rationed during the war and was fed to children to increase their body’s resistance to infections and to treat the common cold.

Ibn Sina spoke about the medicinal value of rose jam in the treatment of tuberculosis and its beneficial results.
Famous botanists such as Galen, Dioscorius, and Pliny have attached great medical value to this plant and mentioned the properties of rose water and considered its effect in the treatment of ear, digestive system, skin and bone disorders good, and its gargle for mouth ulcers and Gums, swollen tonsils have been considered useful. In addition, rose flower has been mentioned as an anti-nausea and astringent drug.
Medicinal properties of rose
The medicinal properties of rose have been known and exploited for years. The ancient Romans considered rose to have medicinal properties, and Abu Ali Sina, who was the first to obtain rose water from rose, benefited from its healing properties. Early inhabitants of North America also drank tea brewed with rose petals to relieve heartburn and upset stomachs.
